Attorney Alicia Howard has practiced in various areas of the law in multiple settings since becoming licensed in 1990.
For the first 3 years of her practice, Attorney Howard served as a compliance manager and in-house counsel for TPI Restaurants, Inc. In that position, Attorney Howard worked closely with company personnel to assure OSHA compliance and compliance with labor laws. She also worked in the area of employment discrimination defense.
In 1992, Attorney Howard went to work for the City of Memphis as an Assistant City Attorney. In that role, Attorney Howard handled various tort claims involving the City of Memphis as a party. In addition, Attorney Howard handled civil service appeals and employment discrimination disputes and provided legal opinions for the City's administrative leaders.
In 1997, Attorney Howard decided to go out on her own to serve the community's people. In the earlier years of her private practice, Attorney Howard provided services in many different areas- auto accidents, bankruptcies, civil litigation, criminal defense, divorce, employment law, family law, and so on.
In 2004, Attorney Howard decided to focus her practice primarily in the area of divorce and family law. Since then, Attorney Howard has continued to devote the majority of her practice to divorces, custody cases, and child support matters.
As a divorcee herself, Attorney Howard is dedicated to assisting others in getting out of unproductive and painful relationships to find and establish healthy and happy bonds.
Having been blessed to experience her own second chances, Attorney Howard is drawn to the challenge of assisting others in doing so.

Jessica Howard
Attorney Jessica LeAnne Howard became a licensed attorney in the State of Tennessee in June of 2021. Specifically, Attorney Jessica L. Howard (“the Junior”) was sworn into the Tennessee Bar on her birthday of June 10, 2021. Her mother, Attorney Alicia A. Howard (“the Senior”) served as her sponsor, along with Attorney Janika N. White.
Attorney Jessica L. Howard was sworn into the Tennessee Bar by the Honorable Judge Rhynette N. Hurd of Division Five of the Circuit Court of Shelby County, TN, whom Attorney Jessica L. Howard clerked for during her second and third year of law school.
Attorney Jessica L. Howard graduated from Whitehaven High School in May of 2012, where she graduated in the top ten percent of her class while also serving as a competitive starting player on the high school’s Varsity Basketball Team.
She began her post-high school education at Middle Tennessee State University (“MTSU”). While in college, Attorney Jessica L. Howard studied English with a concentration in writing while also studying, as a minor, psychology. In May of 2016, Attorney Jessica L. Howard obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a Concentration in Writing from Middle Tennessee State University.
Upon graduating from MTSU, Attorney Jessica L. Howard headed to study law at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Attorney Jessica L. Howard, however, returned to her roots of Memphis, TN, to continue her legal studies, where she ultimately obtained her Juris Doctor Degree from Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in May of 2020.
While a student at Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Attorney Jessica L. Howard was nominated, voted, and selected to serve on the law school’s esteemed Honor Council for two years and served as the Senior Student Justice during the last of her two-year term. During her second year of law school, Attorney Howard also externed with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee under the advisement of the Honorable Chief Bankruptcy Judge David S. Kennedy.
On June 10, 2021, Attorney Jessica L. Howard officially joined her mother in practice at The Law Office of Alicia A. Howard as a Junior Associate.
The Law Office of Alicia A. Howard is now the first Black Mother/Daughter Family Law Firm in the City of Memphis, TN.
Attorney Jessica L. Howard has a passion for family law and has hit the ground running alongside her mother, continuing the legacy of serving clients on family law matters in Bluff City and surrounding areas since 1997.
Attorney Jessica L. Howard is a proud mother of a son and enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and playing sports in her free time.
